At Sharman’s Therapy Centre, we are here to listen. People seek counselling for many reasons. Some people visit our Gold Coast counselling centre after experiencing a trauma.
Trauma can take many forms. At some stage in life, many people encounter a traumatic experience. Although many people think of events such as war and terrorism, trauma can also result from car accidents, abuse, or many other events.
You do not have to be directly involved in an event to experience trauma. If you have witnessed a traumatic event, you might also find yourself experiencing trauma symptoms.
People respond differently to trauma. Some people might find themselves reliving an event in their minds, or might have trouble winding down. It’s also common to feel unsafe after a traumatic event, and perhaps, you might have trouble sleeping.
Counselling for trauma can help some people to move beyond their trauma response. When you seek counselling for trauma at Sharman’s Therapy Centre, our sensitive counsellors will listen and assist you. Our counselling approach focuses on self-awareness. As you work with our caring counsellors, you will have the chance to learn more about yourself in a safe and non-judgmental space.

Some people who experience trauma may go on to develop symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This psychological condition is a common response to trauma. If you have symptoms of this disorder, we might suggest a referral to a psychiatrist or other healing professional.
